The topic of my blog is patriarchy, which is a male dominated, male identified and male centered society. Johnson argues that throught patriachy women are oppressed and especially held from positions of power and authority. This male dominance makes every aspect of our culture to be more male friendly and shifts the balance of power and advantage to the male.
Johnson's view on male dominated society can only be taken seriously to a certain point and for the most part I find his argurments to be outdated in present day. Yes modern society's foundation was built in the image of male ideals but that shouldnt be seen as unnatural since from traditional views the male is the hunter and head of the pack. The continous evolution of society shows that the roles of men and women have become more and more integrated as the "traditional view" on gender role is diminishing. Outside extremist cultures, I feel that men and women and very much becoming equals in positins of authority.

Like there is a "new racism" might there also be a "new sexism" or a "new patriarchy" that is more stealthy and more difficult to detect?
