Stereotype in students

In the reading Snyder mentioned a study done by Robert Rosenthal and his colleague Lenon Jacobson where they pointed on some student who were randomly chossen , and they tell teachers that thses student are expected to show huge improvement in their grades. And they noticed how teacher changed their view towards these students , they gave these students more attention which led to the increase in the students grade. This was very shocking to me, and this was alos the first example i saw where stereotype played a positive role.
This study got me thinking what if teacher realises that people from one race is smarter than other or some student in a class not very smart. For example I heard people saying that Asian are smarter in math. So if teacher thinks a certain race of students are smarter then he will give them more attention and as a result those students from that race will have higher intellectuality than other students. So what I am saying is if we revirse the Rosenthal study and tell the teacher that these students are not that smart, they are not suppose to do good intellectually then observe the result. So if teachers view on students indirectly changes the intellectuality of students in a negative way then it is the worse think that can happen to students and stereotyping is responsible for it..
