Anti-Gay Sterotypes

The article “Anti-Gay Stereotypes” opens with a list of fairly surprising statistics about the percentages of men that have participated in homosexual relations. Spending practically my whole life in the dance community I have been surrounded by homosexual males my whole life, and I don’t just mean a few gay men I mean that my number of gay male friends by far out ways my number of straight guy friends. But even so the statistic that 37 percent of males have had a homosexual experience to orgasm and another 13 percent have had a homosexual fantasy to orgasm really shocked me. The means that basically two out of five guys I pass on the street have had a homosexual experience. I don’t see anything wrong with that, I just find it vey shocking. Most men have real issues with homosexuals and constantly wonder “if I do this, or dress like that will people think I’m gay?” So this sort of makes me wonder if guys are actually a lot more open to homosexuality than they claim to be and are just putting up a front to be like the rest their friends? I also found the statistic that 20 percent of males have had just as many heterosexual experiences as homosexual experience to be rather interesting. It just made me wonder how many guys I have ever hooked up with have also hooked up with guys. Which then really makes me think about how quickly STDs are transmitted from one person to another. This very open paragraph of this article just made me stop and think about a lot of different things, it was such a thought provoking article.
