After reading the Persepolis I was very shocked . Because the prespective I had about Iran was all fundamentalist, i never had imagined that 30 years ago Iran was not under the findamentalist government, and they had a revolution against a corrput government and people who fought in the revolution were not fundamentilist but they were average revolutionary like Geroge Washington and Carl Marx, who wanted to improve their country.
First I was shocked reading this book then it made me sad too. The revlutionary who fought in the Iranina revolution without caring about their lives and there were many who lost their lives in the revlution, did all the sacrifice for nothing because after the Shah government collapsed fundamentilist took over by cheating. So the dream revolutionary people had about Iran died. And many left the country with the disapoinment. So before reading this book my view about Iran was negative meaning as a fundamentilist nation, same as other fundamentilist nations in the middle east. But this book completly changed my view about Iran, Now i look Iran the same way as any other country the only difference is that diserving people didnt get to governed the country in Iran.
