Persepolis

Persepolis was written in graphic novel form which I find very suiting for this type of story. It can be assumed that people who are born and raised in countries such as the U.S. have a hard time imagining the lives and everyday issues that someone that lives in Iran would have. These two worlds are at extreme odds with each other, so this is why I feel that learning about another culture from more of a visual perspective can make a story much more interesting and give the reader another perspective of the story.
One more thing I wanted to touch on is the issue of dress code. It is the reasoning in "Persepolis" that woman must cover themselves so they dont present men with temptation, so this is why dress code must be enforced. But this almost seems ridiculous to me, because in a society that is so strictly enforced by religion, a man's moral code should stream from his religion and values rather then from an excuse that only shows weakness and low moral fiber.
