Persepolis II

I believe that the second part of the book was more intense and I could relate more to the todays happening around the world. Firstly i would like to discuss what our group had discussed, about the relation of her with Raza. I thought that she got married to him only because firstly, she was obsessed with communists and war heroes. Since her childhood she had been around people who fought against the government and for the right always. And on top of that having been in the war and fought for the nation made her get attracted to him more.

Then secondly, since she had never met a guy who was totally opposite than her in everything, she ideologies, she way of living and even her ways of thought, she considered that the base of her marriage. She thought he completed her. Then again, the situation of the government, which was worsening day by day, as a man and woman could not walk in public together. So there was a pressure too on them. But then again, after the marriage what we see that not even after a month they start to sleep on different beds. Then after a while she leaves him. Here as i said in class we compare this to the concept of "doing gender" discussed in class. She was obliged being a wife, to agree to things that she thought were not right according to her husband.

In the end, i understand even though she had to leave iran in the end, she did try to do everything a "woman" can or could try to do to make a difference in society. But then being in a different nation and still addressing all the issues which are still prevalant in todays time, is a big step to take the make the coming generations aware of the plight of certain countries.
