while we read the book we see her actually growing up in Iran , with war regimes and revolution all around her and how her thoughts and her behaviors are formed by everything around her. . The book is around 1980's and it not only tells about Marjane's life story , but also the story of Iran. It begins with the year that the Shah of Iran was overthrown in a popular uprising and also talks about before and after veil. It helped me understand the Iran's history better and how a person , like Marjane, would feel or understand the news that is going on at that time. .

Persepolis
Firstly, when we think about graphic novels, first thing that comes to our mind is graphic novels are for kids , or just about superheroes , or cannot be considered as literature. Writer chose a a unique and exciting at the same time humorous way to tell a story .this is a perfect example of a real novel that out into pictures and with real serious issues put in the novel.Although it talks about hard and serious issues not hard enough to make you want to send a nuclear weapon and when it is funny , it is really funny . It did not make me feel boring even a little bit except the parts she is in Europe.
