Persepolis

Where do you even start with this graphic novel? This was really an eye opener for me. Although I do still associate religious fanaticism more with Iraq then Iran. My dad always told me the joke "I went to Iraq then Iran". I'm pretty sure that by seeing them as fanatics defeats the purpose of this course. I think I need to work on that one.

I love how Marjane did this as a graphic novel, I think it helps get her point across better. Maybe it also made it better for her to relive. it's really sad how the government back then seemed to value the dead soldier more than the alive one. What kind of view on life is that? They would make nuptial chambers for the dead. They can finally have sexual freedom after a life of sexual repression. I'm sorry to use the term but that's just totally backwards to me. People should be allowed to express themselves the way they want, when that doesn't happen bad things happen as we saw in the book. Being chased at gun point for having a party? I am so thankful I live in America.
