Homophobia

in the artical "Homophobia as a Weapon of Sexism" by Suzanne Pharr, it says that gender roles are maintained by three things: economics, violence and homophobia. even though this artical was written 22 years ago back in 1988 it is still able to relate to life today. even though we are making progress to become a more equal society patriochy still remains as a main feature in our society. men are still in greater power. the economic element, the glass cealing that women are rarely able to pass. the higher the power of the position the less women and more men you are able to find. when it comes to violence women are still very much more likely to be the victoms of abuse or rape, keeping them in feer.
