even though we did discusses it in classs, the reading that stood out the most to me was the one about Abercrombie. even before i heard abouth the lawsuites against them i have never once set foot in to one of their stores and the more that i look in to the number of lawsuites that i have seen filed against them the more disgusted i am with their store.
the fact that they discriminated against both customers and workers makes me wonder why i have never heard more about it in the news and i really think that it should be more out there for the rest of the world to see.
I'm glad you have had such a strong reaction to the essay on Abercrombie. As you say, it's astounding that there have been so many complaints against this company (what we read is really only the tip of the iceberg) yet this information hasn't been as widely publicized as maybe it should be.
ReplyDeleteThe other day I had told my sister about the whole lawsuit on abercrombie and the story about the overweight men going into the store and taking their shirts off in public. It is pretty crazy how hurtful these things could be. Personally, I don't think there is that much wrong with advertising things like that. I mean who wouldn't want to make there own clothing line or brand look the best they could. On the other hand, I don't believe that overweight people should think that only the "perfect" looking guys can wear those clothes.
ReplyDeleteI guess what I am trying to say is that the lawsuit was not that necessary in my opinion. It is just simply another way for people to discuss or make a small thing another huge problem. I do agree however some of there policies are ridiculous. For example, the people that work there are selected only if they are considered good looking. No one should be the judge of how good or bad someone looks in terms of job selection.
