Pharr, makes the interesting point that economics can be seen as the driving force of all oppressions. Basically most economics even in the especially in the U.S. is very much a "top heavy system". This means that the majority of wealth and income is held by the top 10% and the rest supply cheap labor. The economic system is shaped like a pyramid with mosty white males at the top and woman and colored people towards the bottom.
This shouldnt be a suprise to many and the fact that economics is one of the major causes of oppression is plain as day. The correlation between money and power is pretty linear, power is not desired to be spread evenly but controlled by a small minority in our society. But for this flow to be maintained a steady and strong force is needed which is the economical pyramid of our society.

Good observations. As we have been discussing in class, oppression always creates systems of advantage based on certain criteria (race, gender, sexuality, etc.) and one of those primary advantages is economic resources.
